Webtool launches HCV220 heavy duty cutter at Subsea Expo 2022

Hydraulic cutters and cable gripper specialist Webtool, an Allspeeds brand, will be launching the Webtool HCV220 for steel wire, cable and umbilcals on stand 34 at Subsea Expo in Aberdeen on 22-24 February. The stand will also feature ROV and RROV wire cutters along with the market leading Webtool CRT200 cable gripper.

Locked On – the Webtool HCV220

The Webtool™ HCV220 is a heavy-duty cutter that can be used either deck mounted or deployed subsea mounted on an ROV. As a deck mounted cutter, it can be used for planned production cutting of cable up to 220 mm diameter. A key feature of the HCV 220 is an integrated interlock, which ensures that the blade cannot activate until the anvil is fully deployed.

Weighing 320kg in the air, the cutter uses 210 bar maximum input pressure. Unlike other cutting methods where there is a risk of the item flexing during cutting and either trapping or snapping the blade, closing the guillotine’s anvil locks the cable in position ensuring the cut is completed successfully, typically within a couple of minutes.

Powerful cable retrieval – Webtool cable gripper

Developed in consultation with international certification body and classification society, DNV GL, the CRT200 Gripper allows the safe and controlled recovery of damaged cable and umbilical up to 8” (203 mm) diameter. It can be used at any water depth and has a lifting capacity of 20 tonnes. Also on the stand will be the heavy duty RCV75HD ROV cutter for wire rope up to 75mm diameter, and the WCOS38D cutter for 38mm diameter wire rope. Both are designed for subsea deployment in severe working conditions. Their lightweight and reliability make them a standard cutting tool in many ROV fleets.

Webtool can also supply specialist RROV cutters for projects that require long term deployment subsea.

Portable Emergency Cutter

In addition to the ROV cutters and gripper, the Webtool stand will include a portable emergency cutter which can be quickly deployed on deck. The cutter is transported in a self-contained “sack truck” containing a hydraulic accumulator and manifold with lockable control panel and removable cutter.

Also on the stand will be examples of Tangye lifting jacks with a lifting capacity up to 100 ton, and a Tangye Hydrapak hand pump, which can be used to pressure test vessels, pipelines and fuel tanks, for example.

The Webtool range of high-performance cutting tools is designed and manufactured exclusively by Allspeeds Ltd in the UK.
