Webtool guillotine cutting tools are playing an increasing role in offshore applications from safety critical, emergency disconnections to improved drill wire cutting during routine maintenance.
Drill Line Wire Cutting
Offshore drilling operations impose wear and fatigues stresses on drill wire lines at the point where the wire passes over the sheave. Undertaking a planned cut-off programme can increase the service life of drilling lines. This involves replacing the most heavily worn steel wire rope section with new rope from the storage reel – a laborious and time consuming process.
The hand-held, Webtool uses blade-on-blade guillotine cutting technology to provide a quick and easy solution. The tool preserves the cylindrical wire rope profile exerting marginal deformation to the drill line, resulting in re-useable cut ends which easily fit back into a spelter socket or dog clamp.
