Getting ready for UK Shale Gas

Fracking has become a major talking point on the news in recent months, Allspeeds would like to lay out the facts about Shale Gas and why we would like to get involved. It would appear that fracking could become a major part of the UK’s long term stability for the supply of our gas, with this being said the UK supply of Shale Gas has the potential of heating 20m homes at peak times while giving the UK a huge economic boost by providing job opportunities to an estimated 64,000 UK citizens. This major investment will give UK businesses a great opportunity for growth within the supply chain for the various materials and tooling needed for the extraction of Shale Gas. The facts about Fracking: Fracking has been around since 1947- it has been tested and safe methods of extraction have been developed over many years. Fracking DOES NOT make your water flammable, in some places in the US people could ignite their water before fracking occurred- earliest records of people igniting their water date back to the 1600’s. Fracking chemicals- 98.5% water, 1% sand and 0.5% chemical additives. According to current EU laws the water used for hydraulic fracking cannot be disposed of in rivers, streams or anywhere above ground. There are only two proven earthquakes globally caused by shale were the 1.5 and 2.4 Richter earthquakes recorded in Lancashire (Quakes under 3 are classified as imperceptible). Allspeeds would particularly like to get involved as it will boost the UK economy, provide much needed jobs for the UK and support local businesses. This opportunity only comes around once in a life time and we will be looking to get involved in the supply chain to support Hydraulic Fracturing.
